I could have saved face

Held my misguided tongue

Failed to speak

I could smell like roses

But be consumed by regret

I could have loved you and left you

And be albe to look you in the eye now

But what good would that do?

Now you will never forget

I made you care.

Even if it was only not to hurt me.
