As I look back through the days, I see a light hearted girl…
As I look back through the days, I see an innocent blur…
I try to find similarity in me and that young girl…
I see nothing similar though; perhaps God wanted everything to differ…
Oh an innocent smile, I remember, the careless whisper she spoke by…
Oh the little dream she had, a dream simply to fly…
All she wanted was a reason, a reason just to smile…
But that little happiness evaporated completely and cruelly with the time
And now I see the similar girl, all angry, all frustrated…
Her life’s gone so dull now, nothing’s left in which she’s interested…
Earlier she needed a reason to laugh, but now she wants to cry…
Earlier she wanted a reason to live, now she wants to die…
Oh this drastic change I see in her, it makes me wonder why
Does life have to change and snatch away from a person such a beautiful smile…
Oh she has lost faith in anything good, she does want nothing, you see,
She just wants her childhood back and live it through infinity…
But even though she wishes this, this knows the universal truth of life…
A time once gone can never return and so can her magnificent smile…
Oh she cries thinking that this might be the end, the end of her carefree time…
All the days she spent laughing and learning, all the days she spent as a child…
As I look back through the days, I see a light hearted child…
As I look ahead through the days, I see an inevitable time…
When I’ll have to grow up and leave my untroubled days…
When I’ll have to grow up and leave my childhood and go a separate way….
