We should see this as an opportunity to rectify our mistakes and reflect on that for a better tomorrow. In this regard, we should think deeply about what is that our mother earth is trying to teach us by sending coronavirus as a messenger.

The very first confirmed case of the corona virus infection was in the Hubei province of China in mid-November 2019. Since then, it has spread to more than a hundred countries affecting people's daily life and their health. The world is moving slowly now, and many countries are facing their worst nightmare. The majority of the affected countries were closing down their borders and remain in isolation now. The number of infected cases is on the rise now and the death toll as well. World Health Organization (WHO) has declared it (COVID-19) as a 'pandemic' now. What makes it more miserable is that there is no cure available until today.  According to the experts, it may last until the end of 2020.

It’s been months since the first reported case of the corona, still we do not know from which species the virus comes from and how it passed on to humans? There are only speculations but no evidence. It is a reminder to all of us that we are still far away from understanding how the system works, or in other words, how mother earth controls the system. It is to remind us that our selfishness, cruelty, and ignorance towards other life forms and even towards mother earth itself have reached its limits.

It is not the first time that we encounter such pandemics that spread from animals to humans, even though we learned nothing from it. We need to correct our wrongdoings and behave well afterward. We must accept that we are all (humans and all other life forms) equal in this world and, we should live in harmony with our neighbors. It doesn't matter whether you are rich or poor, educated or uneducated, married or single, the corona virus affected all humans the same way. Unfortunately, even in this situation, we did not realize any of this and keep making the same mistakes that we were doing for generations.

We could correlate our craving for meat food, including domesticated animals and now expanding to wild animals, to most of the animal originated infections. The bird-flu, SARS, MERS are, to name a few examples. Look at the way corona virus changes its genomic structure and challenge us with a different set of problems every time. Once infected, the virus spread very quickly to others and becomes impossible to control if we didn't take enough precautionary measures. It is our negligence, carelessness, and irresponsible social behavior that made it easy for the virus to spread so suddenly to over a hundred countries.

We should see this as an opportunity to rectify our mistakes and reflect on that for a better tomorrow. In this regard, we should think deeply about what is that our mother earth is trying to teach us by sending corona virus as a messenger.

So what is it that mother earth wants us to learn from this pandemic? What is the message that CORONA has for us?

C for Compassionate (towards our co-habitants)

  • We must be kind to other animals and don't think that all of them should end up on our dining table.

O for Obedience (strictly follow the rules and regulations)

  • We have to obey rules and listen to the authorities to help them manage and overcome the situation. If the situation demands it, then don't be a rebel because that is not going to help anybody. The right to vote during the election is not the only way to show that you are a good citizen.

R for Responsible (as a social human being)

  • We are social human beings, so whatever we do is, in a way, influencing society as well. We should always remember this and must be conscious at all times to avoid the spreading of our diseases to others. Also, spreading fake is worse than spreading diseases.
  • People become panic and pile up goods more than they need. It may cause breaking the supply chain network and creates chaos in the community. This behavior is unacceptable and exposes how selfish some of us are.

O for Organized

  • Work is important to us. To maintain a work-life balance, we need to keep it organized in our work environment and personal life. An organized work plan and an action plan is what a country needs in these circumstances.

N for Neighborly (unselfish behavior and helping mentality)

  • It is not the time to finger-point each other or blame others. Instead, we should be more humane and help others. Circumstances can change any time, so you will never know who is going to help you in your tough times. An individual can help his neighbor and countries can help each other by providing necessary items like medical test kits or masks etc.

A for Appreciative

  • In such challenging situations, we should stay organized and united. A combined effort is required to overcome the fears. We should be grateful for what others have done for us and to society. We should appreciate everyone who has contributed and made them proud of what they did.

These are testing times for everybody. We hope that we can learn from our past mistakes and move forward together for the betterment of the earth.
