This short story tells you about a 'friendship' that is ruined. What will happen when the other leaves?

There were two best friends named Jack and Stephanie. They have been best friends since a very young age. Stephanie was in love with Jack, but Jack wasn't sure what his feelings for her were yet. Jack would always bring girls around Stephanie because he wanted his girlfriends to be friends with Stephanie. If they didnt like her, then he would dump them.

On July 14, at 5 pm, Jack and Stephanie were walking on an old rail road track behind Stephanie's house. stephanie figured it was the right time to tell Jack that she loved him, so she did.

  "Jack... I love you."

  "Oh...ugh...I...gotta go." Jack stuttered.

"Wait... what?" stephanie wanted to say bye, but he was already walking away.

Stephanie ran home crying. Her mom tried to talk to her, but Stephanie couldn't hear her mother over her weeps. she was crying in her pillows when she heard her phone ringing.

  "Hello?" Stephanie said.

  "Hey!" Jack said.

"Oh..." Stephanie was calming down. "What's up?"

"Nothing I was just wondering if you wanted to go to John's party tonight?"

"Great, I'll pick you up at 7?"

  "Okay, I'll be ready!"

They both hung up the phone. Stephanie was trashing her room with clothes looking for the perfect outift.

Finally, Jack came over at exactly 7! Stephanie was walking to Jack's car and stopped to look at him. She then got into the car, but for some reason worried. When they got to a red light, Stephanie noticed a car coming at them driving wildly and you could tell the driver was drunk. She tried to warn Jack, but it was too late. Stephanie woke up with her parents sitting down crying.

  "Hunny?" Stephanie's mom said.

  "What... what happened?" Stephanie stuttered.

Stephanie's doctor walked in the room.

"You and your friend got in a car crash with a man that was drunk."

  "Is Jack okay?" Stephanie asked.

"Um... hunny... Jack ... died in the crash." Stephanie's mom tried to find the right words, but she couldn't find them.

Stephanie started to burst into tears.

"Steohanie," Jack;s mom said. "Jack told me a;; the time at the dinner table that he loved you. He said that even if I couldn't understand that, I didn't understand him. He said you were his everything!"

Stephanie cried herself to sleep that night and every night. Once school started, she only had hot tears left. Stephanie found a letter in her locker the first day of school that said...

Dear Stephanie,

You are the light in my empty world. I love you with all my heart even though I was to shy to admit it. But I did tell you on your fifth birthday party! I want to be with you all my life, but I'm sure if you want to because I was too shy and put it in a letter. Either way, just being your friend means the world to me. I want you to know that I will wait for you!

Stephanie started to cry some more. The school counselor let Stephanie go home early. When Stephanie got home, she realized she was home alone. Her mom was a banker and her dad was a doctor. Stephanie sat on the kitchen floor crying with the letter in her hand. She grabbed the knife above her and stabbed herself slowly in the heart. Stephanie was happy to be with Jack again and knowing that he will never leave soon.

The night Stephanie committed suicide, her mom found a letter on her pillow. The letter said...

Dear Mom,

I'm so sorry! I need to be by myself. I want this. My life hasn't been the same without Jack. This was all my idea! I want you to know that I love you with all my heart and that I didnt do this because of you. You raised me to be independent. That's what I'm going to do! Good Bye.
