A Good Conscience, A Guilty Soul
Poem by: princesspunkxx
I looked down at it,
It looked back at me,
wondering if I would admit,
admit my mistakes,
my sins, my crimes,
all the things that causes my heart aches.
I look away, I shudder
Just thinking about it made my stomach flip,
My vision starts to blur,
I blink a couple of times,
Trying to forget
but I can not neglect that look in your eyes,
When you found out about last night,
the other guy,
When he asked me to go home with him,
As a drunk, I follow,
Into a bedroom so dim...
Hours later I awake with emptiness,
confusion, guilt, regret
Wondering, how will I confess?
Finding the rights words is too hard.
As if my mind cannot breathe.
This is not something you would easily discard.
So now, it looked at me, very tense
I looked straight into its eyes,
Convincing me, persuading
To tell you I’m sorry
and fix my love for you that’s fading
but I’m rotting and breaking inside
From hurting you,
Shame will forever follow me alongside.
