The stones represent a form of anxiety that is released in a dream world. The subjects throw their anxieties across the water like stones. But reality isn’t always easy. They know they must wake up soon.

Skipping Stones

You’ll do just fine once you get used to it

Find the smoothest one you can

Now swing back and thrust forward

Let it slip out of your hands

It won’t always be so easy

Or quite as calm as this lake

But I’m here to hold your hand always

I’ll be there whatever it takes

And we’ll skip these stones across the water tonight

We’ll sing songs beneath the moon

In our quiet little world where the fireflies light the way

To the real word, we’ll be home again soon

Walk a little bit farther to find a few more rocks

Listen to the swinging pendulum of the ticking clocks

Hands sing “Tick-Tock! It’s almost time to go! Tick-Tick! The sun has started to glow”. And now it’s time to go home, to a world we can’t call our own.

We know it’s never so easy

Like when our hearts break

But I’ll hold your hand in the darkness

No matter what it takes

So we’ll skip smooth stones across the water tonight

And watch them ripple all the stars and the shining moon

But we won’t stay for long

You’ll have to wake up soon

And we’ll skip these stones across the water tonight

We’ll sing songs beneath the moon

In our quiet little world where the fireflies light the way

To the real word, we’ll be home again soon

You’ll do just fine once you get used to it

Find the smoothest one you can

Now swing back and thrust forward

Let it slip out of your hands
