Dear Student,

The original version of this Manual was designed in Canada for the Course No. 103050 «Spanish language for Beginners (Level 1)», and approved by the Ontario College of Teachers on September 26, 2002, for those members, who were interested in learning Spanish as a second language, and wished to attend courses for credit under the Professional Learning Program (PLP). This Manual has held the Copyright Certificate of Registration by Canadian Intellectual Property Office under the title Spanish Language Booklets for Students of Think in Spanish @ Hola Amigos! with the Registration No. 1018542. Since that time this Booklet has been updated day after day, based on my own teaching experience.

The content of this booklet has the following practical aims:

  • to help participants interested in learning Spanish as a second language to get the language skills based on the communicative approach
  • to develop and consolidate the most frequent structures of Spanish language in present, past and future tenses
  • to introduce to participants thematic units which reflect Spanish and Latin American culture and developing skills that are transferable to everyday situations of their own life experience
  • to provide the practice of oral, listening, comprehension and writing skills that make them to apply by themselves the communication skills with confidence

The booklet also has the goal to accomplish the expectations to be achieved by participants:

  • acquisition of strategies effective for the learning of language structures
  • introduction to texts and exercises as a source for oral and structure practice
  • consolidation of Spanish language skills, with emphasis on speaking and writing
  • introduction to the notion of structure of Spanish language and its flexibility and the way how to use it to communicate their ideas
