In the Light
Don’t you see her standing there, that girl by your window-sill?
Don’t you see her standing there, perfect, silent, still?
Don’t you see her standing there, waiting at the door?
Don’t you see her standing there, looking in forevermore?
In her arms a single rose, still wet with dew,
In her heart a secret love, a yearning just for you.
In her eyes a child’s hope, to make her feelings known,
And in her soul a yearning, to be yours alone.
Her hair’s a flowing river, shining in the sun,
Her feet are like a dancer’s, small and quick to run.
Her skin is silver moonlight, soothing to the touch,
Her tears are overflowing, for she loves you just too much.
Can’t you see her waiting, she’s been standing there so long?
Can’t you see her waiting, even knowing that it’s wrong?
Can’t you see her waiting, hands clutched to her chest?
Can’t you see her waiting, for the ending of her quest?
Her dress is made of silk, a waterfall of blue,
Her shoes are nonexistent, so long she waits for you.
Her jewelry is gone, to buy passage to your door,
Her body is shaking; your form nails her to the floor.
And now you see her standing there, and her hope’s come true,
And now you run to her, and she will see it through,
And now you stand before her, and through the cloud breaks dawn
And now you reach to touch her, and find that she is gone.
