A midnight poem.

We lie with our bodies still together

And realize simultaneously

How easy it would be

For him to take from me

Rather than wait for me to give

And it is that fear that keeps my eyes

Locked strong with his

And I regret never asking

If out of twenty-odd

Did one ever get hit by a violent drunk?

I see you reflected in a character,

The anger and need filling you both

And I am afraid.

But then, I was always afraid of you.
