A bonfire personified, I am kindling at his feet

Drawn not like a moth to a flame, but a weary traveller to a warm hearth

And the feeling surely, is shared amongst many, hundreds of faces seeking

Just the barest hint of lingering heat

But when the faces have turned away, I can’t help but wonder at the silence

That settles upon me, irreverent of those roaring flames
