Dark Pools

As I gaze into two dark pools,

I find myself sinking through space,

deep inside the night-air, as it cools,

shivering, then swept away by an invisible face.

To tread through dark waters

should cause terrible fright,

yet I sink deeper into that liquid matter

and let myself be taken in by its night.

Drifting, enraptured, through freezing waves,

for a moment, my heart stands still,

willfully wishing this watery grave

and hoping its insides the cold water will fill.

What better death could I hope for?

How else should I wish to meet my demise?

Is it possible to ever want more

than to drown for eternity in the black of your eyes?
