I grinned to myself as I trudged around a lump of dung. I looked down at the dying brown and green grass. This was a place where things used flourish. In a five stars, it would be dead. The trees bent in the breeze, as if they too were dying with languor. I wondered, if I left and came back, would there still even be trees? Would there still be flowers? Or would I find a desert?
I glared down at the chains around my feet. They weighed more than he did! Well, that's not much to start with in the first place. A better comparison would be that it weighed more than I did. I trudged one foot in front of another.
"Come on, lass! Can't you walk any faster?" He snickered.
