When the newly wounded must appear in public, how must one respond?

May 25th

Vulnerabilities exposed

Like the broken bra strap

Slipping

Slipping

Slipping

De-shouldering southward

In view of all

This is what the wounded one looks like

Speak gently

Risk not the stain of her blood on one's own clothing

Small talk only, please

No sharp teeth

Or words

Or truths

Allowed.

More embarassing than offers of sympathy

Offers of kindness

Offers of coffee and chat

Real chat

Then, the pivotal instant

to lean in

to listen, deeply

The blood won't contaminate

It purifies

Like the tears.
