Dark Crow's Eye

Soaring through the sky
Freedom all it knows
North, south, east, and west
Instinct guides it's path steady
Clouds straight above as far as can see
A fluffy ceiling of protecting blindness
An endless search rarely ceased
Scavenging the remnants of lives failed
Lives neither valued nor forgotten
Within a universe so rampant with chaos
The crow sits on its perch above it all
The power line above you, each night
Whenever you steal innocence with rage
That tree branch waving hello years back
You soiled the roots deep with blood
It pranced on the window sill outside
In your moment of lust while he was away
For many a night across a year of months
Every time daddy paid his visits
For all the days the wind blew free against a window nailed shut
Every time mommy slept in ignorance
The dark crow's eye wishing for a tear
It saw the fear grow in a child so trembling
It's feeble mind trying to decipher
Who are these creatures of disgust
As it looks down on us all from above
From a humble perch we never reach
With a freedom of which we only dream
The darkest recesses of existence exposed
To the slightest in mind yet the wisest in soul
