HERBERT  HOOVER  WAS  BORN  IN  IOWA  IN  1874,  BUT WAS  RASIED  IN  OREGON.  HE  WAS  AN  ORPHANED  AT  THE AGE  OF  NINE, HOWEVER  AN  UNCLE  TOOK  HIM  IN  AND RASIED  HIM  TO  A  BRIGHT  YOUNG  MAN.HE  WENT  TO SCHOOL  AT  STANFORD  UNIVERSITY  IN  1895  AND  MAJORED  IN  MINING  ENGINEER. HOOVER  THEN  MARRIED  HIS  COLLEGE SWEETHEART  NAME  LOU  HENRY  AND  THEY  MOVE  TO  CHINA.  HOOVER  WORKED  18  YEARS  AS  AN  ADMINISTRATIVE  ENGINEER IN  CHINA  ON  INDUSTRIAL  PROJECTS.  HOOVER  THEN  WAS PROMOTED  AS  A  NATIONAL  FOOD  ADMINISTRATIVE  TO  PRODUCE  AND  SERVE  SUPPLIES. HIS  EFFORT  SPREADED  OVER 30  EUROPEAN  COUNTRIES  AND  HE  GAVE  $100,000,000  WORTH OF  SUPPLIES  TO  THEM.  HOOVER  WAS  ACTIVE  AND  WORKING IN  LONDON  IN  1914  WHEN  WORLD  WAR  ONE  STARTED.  HE  HELPED  AMERICAN  TRAVELERS  WHO  WERE  TRYING  TO  GET AWAY  FOR  THE  WAR.  HOOVER  HELPED  ASSIT  A  PRIVAE HUMANITARIAN  RELIEF  AGENCY  FOR  BELGIUM’S  POPULATION, AND  GAVE  80%  OF  IT  IN  FOOD.  IN  1920,  HOOVER RETURNED  BACK  TO  THE  UNITED  STATES  AND  BUILT  HIM AND  HIS  WIFE  A  BEAUIFUL  ATTRACTIVE  HOUSE  ON  STANFORD  CAMPUS.  A  PRESIDENT  BY  THE  NAME  ELECT-WARREN  HARDING  APPOINTED  HOOVER  SECRETARY  OF  COMMERCE POSITION. HE  DID  RADIOBROADCASTING,  COMMERCIALS,  MORE HOUSING, AND  PROVIDED  SAFER HIGHWAYS.  IT  WAS  THEN  HOOVER  WAS THE  MOST  IMPORTANT,  WELL-KNOWN  AMERICAN  IN  CIVIC LIFE. THIS  WAS  AN  INTRODUCTION  ON  HERBERT  HOOVER NOW  I’LL  GOING  TO  TELL  YOU  ABOUT  HIS  POSIIVES  AND NEGATIVES  OF  HIS  LEADERSHIP.  HOOVER  ACCEPTED  HIS  PARTY’S  NOMINATION  TO  BE PRESIDENT  IN  1928.  I  THINK  THAT’S  POSITIVE  BACEAUSE IF  YOU  WANT  SOMETHING  YOU  HAVE  TO  GO  FOR  IT. YOU JUST  CAN’T  STOP  AND  THINK  IT’S  JUST  GOING  TO  FALL OUT  THE  SKY,  SO  I  WOULD  SAY  THAT’S  A  POSITIVE THING.  ON  DECEMBER 3, 1929,  THE  STOCK  MARKET  CRASHED, AND  THE  WHOLE  COUNTRY  WENT  INTO  DEPRESSION.  NOW THAT’S  A  NEGITIVE  THING,  BUT  IT  COULD  BE  FIXED. MY  BELIEF  IT  WAS  A  PROBLEM  BEFORE  HE  WAS  ELECTED. HOOVER  ASKED  THE  CONGRESS  FOR  $150 MILLION  PROGRAMS TO  ASSIT  AND  AID  WORK.  THAT  WAS  A  POSITIVE  THING SO  PEOPLE  COULD  FIND  JOBS,  GET  ADVICE, AND  DO  JOB SEARCHES. INSTEAD  OF  HOOVER  INCREASING  THE  MONEY SUPPLY  HE  JACKED  UP  INTEREST  RATES.  THAT’S  A NEGITIVE  BECAUSE  HE  SHOULD’VE  DONE  WHAT  HE  SAID. HOOVER  ADMINISTRATION  FELT  THAT  THE  DEPRESSION  WILL CORRECT  ITSELF.  THIS  IS  WHY  PEOPLE  SAW  ON  NEED  FOR HOOVER  TO  INTERCEDE.  HOOVER  CHOOSE  TO  DEPEND  ON CONCEALED  CHARITITY  AND  SUFFER. FADING   LEADERSHIP, HE  GOT  A  DEGREE  WHILE  ATTENDING  FEDERAL  FARM  BOARD AND  THE  RECONSTRUCTION  FINANCE  CORPORATION.  HERBERT HOOVER  QUOTE: [1]“WE  IN  AMERICA  TODAY  ARE  NEARER  TO  THE  FINAL  TRIUMPH  OVER  POVERTY  THEN  EVER  BEFORE  IN THE  HISTORY  OF  ANY  LAND.”HOOVER  WENT  IN  A DEPRESSION  STATE  AND  WAS  PLACE  BACK  IN  THE  ELECTION IN  1932,  BUT FAIL TO FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT.  [2]ROOSEVELT VOWS A “NEW DEAL” THAT HE WOULD TAKE CARE OF HIS PEOPLE AND DOES EVERYTHING IN HIS POWER TO TURN EVERYTHNG AROUND.  IN  THE  RESPECT  AND  ADMIRATION  OF  HERBERT  HOOVER  A CAMPAIGN  WAS  ISSUE  FOR  HIS  EFFORT.  HOOVER  DIED  AT 90  YEARS  OLD  IN  NEWYORK.  HE  LEFT  BEHIND  MANY  BOOKS AND  ARTICLES  BASED  OFF  HIS  EXPERIENCE  AND  KNOWLEDGE IN  LIFE.  HE  MANIFEST  HIS  IMPORTANCE  AND  PRINCIPLE THOUGHTOUT  STANFORD  UNIVERSITY  IN  1959  AND  STATED: [3]  This Institution  supports  the  Constitution  of  the  United States,  its  Bill  of  Rights,  and  its  method  of representative  government.  Both  our  social  and economic  systems  are  based  on  private  enterprise  from  which  springs  initiative  and  ingenuity. . . . Ours  is  a  system  where  the  Federal  Government  should  undertake  no  governmental,  social  or  economic action,  except  where  local  government,  or  the  people,  cannot  undertake  it  for  themselves. . . .The  overall  mission  of  this  Institution  is,  from  its  records,  to  recall  the  voice  of  experience against  the  making  of  war,  and  by  the  study  of these  records  and  their  publication,  to  recall  man's endeavours  to  make  and  preserve  peace,  and  to sustain  for  America  the  safeguards  of  the  American way  of  life.  This  Institution  is  not,  and  must  not be,  a  mere  library.  But  with  these  purposes  as  its goal,  the  Institution  itself  must  constantly  and dynamically  point  the  road  to  peace,  to  personal freedom,  and  to  the  safeguards  of  the  American system.  VERY PROSTIVE!
