Dedicated to my Pappaw. He was a witty, fun old man who I will never forget. Passed on Father's Day, 2014.

The day you passed was bright,

Golden-veiled with sun's light;

The church's songs deafened me

From the cry of mourning soon to be.

Your frame was weak and pale,

Your soul -- ne'er frail.

The breath left your wrinkled lips

And flew to the land of eternal bliss.

No song of praise could strengthen me,

Not so till three days it be;

The church bore heavenly light,

All things again were bright.

Though tears poured from eyes,

And all woes were goodbyes,

The day you passed was bright;

Forever you shall bathe in light.
