It was a beautiful summer day as Tyler Star was just waking up to the sound of his phone ringing next to him on the night stand.  He answered it still half asleep. “Hello?”

“Hey dude, sorry about waking you up, it’s John Moon, I was just wondering if you wanted to hang out today.”

“Uhh … sure, I guess, I don’t have anything planned for today.  What were you thinking of doing?”

“I don’t know … skydiving.”

Suddenly awake,Tyler responds, “Dude you know I am scared of heights!”

“I know, but you already agreed to hang out.”

“I don’t know, bro, I don’t really want to.”

“C’mon man, it’ll be fun, besides it’s one hundred percent safe.”

“Fine, I’ll go I guess.”

“Great! I’ll pick you up in a little bit.”John says as he hangs up.

“Awesome now I have to get outta bed and shower, just for skydiving.  I don’t even want to go skydiving.” Tyler says to himself as he gets up and out of bed to get in the shower.

About an hour later John pulls up in his Hummer and honks his horn a few times.

“Let’s go man!”

“I’m coming”

Upon arriving at the skydiving place called Skaikru, the two notice that there is only a small, white, concrete building next to a hanger big enough for only a small plane and beside these two buildings is a long concrete runway.

“Hey just pull up there” Tyler says pointing towards the vehicle that is next to the white building.

“Dude this is going to be so much fun!” Exclaims John excitedly.

“Yeah, definitely.” Responds Tyler sarcastically as he gets out of the Hummer.

They both walk in through the door together to be greeted by the comfort of air conditioning and an Ipad on a stand directly in front of them asking for them to sign in.

“I’ll sign us in.” John says as he leans forward beginning to type in their names.

“Reservation for two for Mr. Moon.” the Ipad says once their names were typed in.

John clicked on the box that showed the reservation.

“Please follow the arrows.” The Ipad said.

Shortly after, the floor projected multiple arrows that directed them around the corner and down a set of stairs.  They entered a room at the bottom of the stairs that was set up like a classroom with chairs in neat rows that were two seats deep by four seats across.  They then noticed the man that stood up from behind his desk and introduced himself.

“Hello I amFinnick, you two must be… Mr. Starr and Mr. Moon” Finnick says looking at his Ipad.

“I am going to be your instructor and pilot today.”

“Awesome!” Exclaims John, cutting him off.

“But before we get both of you suited up and ready to jump out of a plane 13,000 feet high, we need to go over all the safety precautions involved with skydiving. Okay?”

“Aww, okay” Replies John.

“Ok if you both sit down we can get right into it”

Suddenly Tyler wakes up looking out the window of a plane staring at the ground 13,000 feet below.

“OH MY GOD!” He exclaims jumping back from the window.  “Wait how did I get here?” He asks when he notices John and Finnick staring at him.

“Well when a mommy and a daddy love each other very much-”

“No, not that you idiot! Like, how did I get on this plane?  The last thing I remember is sitting down to go over the safety precautions, everything else is just a blur.” Explains Tyler.

“Well that sucks, but it is time to jump” John says as he slides open the door on the side of the plane.

“You two best stop jibber jabbering and jump or you will miss the drop zone!” Shouts Finnick from the front seat.

“Well, ladies first.” John says as he pushes Tylerout and jumps out after him.  After the first few moments of screaming and cursing, Tyler orientates himself correctly and exclaims “Wow this is amazing.”

“You’re welcome.” Says John.  His voice coming through the headset clearly.

“Yeah, thanks!” Responds Tyler.

While the two are plummeting to the ground and admiring the amazing views provided in being able to see for miles,  they link up.  They are then interrupted by their watches both beeping.

“Well time to pull the cord.” John says ripping at the cord that will deploy the parachute allowing him to safely float back to the ground, but when he does the sudden speed difference makes him kick off Tyler’s headset.  Tyler then pulls at his cord preparing for the force of the parachute deploying.  He waits there with his eyes squeezed tight, waiting for that punch of the parachute deploying only to open his eyes and realize that the parachute was packed wrong and did not open correctly.  He quickly pulls at the reserve ‘chute cord only for it to tear off.

“Wait what.  This should be working… Was this just sewed on and not connected to anything?” He thinks to himself.  He then spends a few seconds cursing and thinking that he doesn’t deserve this.  Then promptly decides that it must just be his time to die, so not wanting the slight chance of being paralyzed the rest of his life, he does the one thing that seems to remember from the short basic training.  He re-orientates himself so that he will land in the middle of the landing zone on his head so that there is no chance of survival.  He convinces himself that he has had a good life and puts his mind at peace as he prepares to hit the ground that is fast approaching.  When he is mere meters from hitting he puts his hands in front of his face, but before the impact he jolts upright in the chair he is sitting in.  With beads of sweat running down his face and shaking a little he notices Finnick standing near a door.

“What the f*ck was that?!” Shouts Tyler.

“You were just in a simulation preparing you to jump.”

“Yeah, well I am probably going to need to see a therapist now.”

“This is a normal test before a real jump, you are just overreacting.”

“No I’m not. I’m outta here.”
