a girl in Elizabeth England on a search for new friends.

In Between the Social Ladder.

Once upon a time there was a girl living in London during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.  Her name was Jane she was very pretty. She often wanted to go to school but she could not because her parents did not have the money to pay for it .  Her mother was a cook and her father was a tailor. She had a good life and all but she sometimes wished she met new people, interesting people. She wished she met people who didn’t just go around gossiping and flirting whenever they got the chance to. So one day she went out with her mother’s consent she went out to town. She went out into the busy and crammed streets of London.  It was so loud and dirty she started to deny she would find any people and if she did they wouldn’t want to talk to her. She was dressed in the clothes that nobles would not wear for they weren’t as good enough but she also wore clothes that peasants could not afford, she loved her dress even though it was made out of fox’s fur.  She was walking through the streets looking around at the shops she then passed by a merchant’s stand at the merchant’s son happened to notice her. He then told his friend who was standing next to him “She looks way to beautiful to be of the working class don’t thee think?” “I agree lets go talk to her.” said his friend who was the daughter of a noble.  “Not right now Brooke, remember we’re not allowed to talk to the working class.”  “Darn, I forgot how about we sneak over there quickly.” said Brooke. They sneakily ran past everybody and ran behind the tavern that she was heading towards.  As Jane was walking towards the tavern she heard a voice yell “Ho, beautiful young lady.” She then turned around as she was the only young lady around there.  She noticed a young man and a young woman hiding behind the tavern and said “Yes, How may I help you?” as she bowing.  “Good day my fair maiden. I do not ask for your assistance just for your company my name is Robert and this young lady next to me is Brooke and yours?”  “My name is Jane and where would we go?”  “We could go play some tennis”.  “I-I don’t know how to play that or what that is.”  “Really? You should meet us across town tomorrow in the morn and we’ll teach you.” said Brooke.  “Thank you. I would like to stay and chat but my parents would go all bonkers if I got home late.” Bye I hope to see you tomorrow.

???

So Jane then left early in the morning before her parents woke up and went across town by boat taxi.  That day she had met two of the nicest and intelligent people ever. The only thing she had to be careful of bystanders for it was forbidden. It got awfully tiring at times but they had a wonderful friendship. They even taught her how to read.  Robert and Jane eventually started to go together but, it that is a different story.
