PUBLISHED!! A poem I wrote on a whim to submit to a publication that was offering monetary prizes in each writing category, and even though I'm not a poet, I decided to give it a shot. Well, they published it, but no money... :)

Looking for the end he will find

Images of enlightenment and pain

Slowly playing in front of shadowed eyes

Fallen from physical grace

Empty picture frames on the bureau

Awakened from the lie of living

Pondering the humanity of his sacrifice

He touches the match to the glossy papers

Is it hard to believe in nothing?

He gazes into the discolored flames

Memories of nothingness

Slowly put the puzzle together

The larger world illustrated

The question for him has always been

Where did it all go wrong?

Still without illumination

Trembling fingers stilled in an instant

Still no answer in those dusky eyes
