Sometimes a little free time, simply isn't enough.

I find myself with a few hours, so that I may struggle with trepidation against its final seconds.

The hounds guard against the creeping of real commitments,

While the elements call for my flesh.

Like a breeze that moves the metal chimes outside my window, today

Steeling my breath like a ritual performed over time.

I could have pondered on ancient mysteries.

Human achievements that have been lost and recovered from previous civilizations,

Dark libraries covered in dust with massive locks that cannot be hacked.

Instead, my muse lies in wait inside the darkest of rooms.

I cringe, for the truth is a horror that tucks at the shadows.

It is all there in my psyche, but it must be left for another day.
