Standing alone

Nothing but my thoughts for company

I hear the echoes of birds as they chirp below

A few stones get free and crumble beneath my feet

Tumbling down the rocks to the rough sea below

I take a deep breathe

I can almost taste the salt water already

The skies are dark

The sun hidden by the depressing, black clouds

I reach to my face and catch a stray tear as it falls free from my bloody eyes

My hair blows onto my face in a tough gust of wind

The wet strands sticking to my parted lips and cold cheeks

I hear a crash of thunder before it belts down with heavy raindrops

It’s almost as though the sky is crying too

Me dress ruffles in the wind

Causing the red ribbon holding it to cut loose

I watch as it blows gracefully down and lands onto the water

Before being swallowed by the mouth of the sea

That will be me in a moment

I think to myself as my feet drag my body even closer to the edge of the cliff

I’m sorry Papa, but I couldn’t do it anymore

Who really expected me to last this long anyway?

I asked myself, as I take my final breathe and plunge myself into the sea.
