Trifle

By Rae Lynn

I sit upon a big, red chair

The throne of the lost

Blue hair cascades down my pale, bony shoulders

Like water flowing over jagged rocks

Yellow ruffles flow to my feet

The last rays of sunshine I will see

White laces cover my arms

So delicate spiders’ webs are put to shame

Gray walls surround me

My silent prison

Black eyes stare into space

Lifelessdark as death

Maroon scars mark my skin

A reminder of tortuous nights

And of more to come
