Are things ever what they seem? For I have had the strangest dreamI stood before a wishing wellThen down and down, and down I fellI reflected in a mirror thereTo see the truth, if I should dareIn covert shadows of this dreamA shy bird sang a song, unseenAlone I stood, on naked knollAnd chanced to look, into my soulAll my hopes and dreams, were thereAnd all my sins, so much to bareI wept, for I was so ashamedI had only but myself to blameFor straying from the straight and narrowI am being haunted by my sorrowI thought if only I could awakeI wound not repeat the same mistakesI would live in love and love to liveMyself to others I would giveWith compassion and great careMy heart and soul I would gladly shareI soon awoke, and that was when….I heard the shy bird, sing again!
