Pompeii, can you hear me calling out to you?

The ashes rained down faster than you could run,

You've become history unforgotten and yet,

You still remain in ruins, in your ancient city;

I feel pity.

For the people of your time, I wish to refuse ignorance,

The suffering you endured for a moment, and then you became;

Still life. Still you remain as a reminder of true pain,

Now you're exploited by our history and archaelogical consent,

While the public loves your name, there is no shame,

In saying, respect and admiration for your frightful fight for desperate survival,

is continually remembered even centuries to this day and age.

Mount Vesuvius, are you still alive?

I hope you continue resting peacefully until the end of time.
