Summary

warning: this contains a bit of a gothic feel...I've been listening to progressive metal lately, and fantasizing a lot, in order to escape from reality's dungeon(plus I recently saw the Dark Knight...which is why this is a bit psychotic)....

I knew this would be the final day I loved you,

Left all my darkness behind my very shame,

You took all that mattered to anyone, still,

I had to breathe in every last breath, that day...

Would this never take flight with this abuse?

Locked in this dungeon of wonder and loss,

So insane, I lie, and you prove your worthless,

So this high stake has coined in the toss...

Or would I dare to choose my own fears for,

The bird soaring higher into the rapture,

Of her fears, will land upon the glowing pyre,

Putting out the flames, and crashing faster...

The eye of the Phoenix is always watching us,

With every single feeling, I let enter my mind,

And with all that we're lacking in, out of spite,

Will never possibly dim the onyx stone's shine...

So return to your state of pre-mental wealth,

Going crazy 'round the circle of laughing fire,

Only feeds upon the carcasses of jokers,

And the puppets scream out, hung by the wires...

Exiled and defiled, we must reap the grim,

Still unafflicted, and partially mad at the core,

The center of the soul is the heart of sadness,

Corrupting thoughts and believing the lore...

The tall tales we've been told for centuries,

All the urban legends that creep us out,

And the myths from long ago, spiral down,

From the beginnings to the ends, I will not doubt...

For the longing to become something else,

We don't really know who we are inside,

But outside we see reflections of hollowmen,

Forcing spines to shiver, in the cold dead of night...
