Delight of Solace

Rajesh Nair

(Translated by Reji Kumar)

Glancing at the wakeful me,

Silently latent on the shore

The River, murmured a lullaby

And flowed on yonder

As I suffered of my distressing thoughts

A gentle Breeze kindly,

Caressed me

Eyeing me break beads of sweat

In the day's heat,

The Sun waded into clouds

To get me a breezy  shade

As  I laid helpless and weak

On the floor, fast asleep

a few  ants, tiptoed  by

Steering clear of my way

A passing Rain, noticed

My heart - yearning and parched,

Showered me with honey dewdrops

And thus it was, I who had

Dreamt of solace, for a long time

Was  gratified
