Yeah, I’m here at the job site.
Didn’t get much sleep last night.
They never fully turned off the light.
Getin the job done is what’s right.
To get here we ride in the short bus.
We all cool n’ we don’t usually fuss.
Bang my finger n’ I might cuss.
Sorry, there’s no one here named Gus.
Homie, we’re here to finish yo job.
Then we can eat corn on da cob.
When we leave you might wanna sob.
But for now we’re just finishin your job.
All week I get to hang out with my crew.
Pretty soon we’ll be stuck like glue.
But we still won’t be going to da brew thru. (What?!)
These are my homies; you don’t have a clue.
Yeah we a workin all day.
But talkin with Claire is a-okay.
Ed could be a country rock star someday.
Myra never took us to Subway.
Yeah Peter likes his Old Bay. (Yo)
We are standin on the roof in the sun.
With Nam here it is a lot of fun.
Pretty soon we’ll be done.
Then we could possibly have a honey bun.
Homie, we’re here to finish yo job.
Then we can eat corn on da cob.
When we leave you might wanna sob.
But for now we’re just finishin your job.
Yeah, Zack can hammer his nails in three wacks.
Jose always be sure to get your back.
Be sure not to drop your nails down the crack!
Roofin is fun; that’s a fact, Jack!
When you go up, be sure to drink water a lot.
Cause its so dern hot.
Emma is sure to remember all she’s been taught.
Each night we sleep in a classroom on a cot.
Yeah Charles the contractor attaches us to a tether.
Up here is some mighty fine weather.
On the roof we can hang here together.
The bonds of friendship we’ve made we never want to sever.
Yeah, we’re here to finish yo job.
Then we can eat corn on da cob.
When we leave you might wanna sob.
But for now we’re just finishin your job.
Homie, while we’re on the roof, Cecelia is a paintin’.
Luckily Emily ain’t faintin. (What?!)
Yo, it would feel good if it were rainin.
Then at least we wouldn’t be stainin.
Man, Theresa is like my neighbor! (Not really!)
That was kind of silly.
Brigitta is from near Chantilly.
Where she from it ain’t that hilly.
We got another contractor named Tom.
With the yo-yo Greg is da bomb.
Some of us have a Facebook.com.
Pretty soon we’ll be goin home to mom.
On the roof the hammer is our best friend.
We are cooled by the gentle wind.
You’re roof we’re out to mend.
To your own business you can tend.
Homie, we’re here to finish yo job.
Then we can eat corn on da cob.
When we leave you might wanna sob.
But for now we’re just finishin your job.
Yeah, Bernadette be leadin’ us in prayer.
Mary Francis is sort of a shingle slayer.
N’ Jim is a good shingle layer.
I sure ain’t a baseball player. (Man, that was random!)
Well, pretty soon we will have to go back to home base.
It’s gonna be sad leavin this place.
May we be led by God’s grace.
As new adventures in life we chase.
So it was great meetin’ you guys.
At workcamp time always flies.
All you are awesome n’ wise.
Now we say our ‘good byes’.
See ya later!
