Political campaigns against firearms are very prevalent in this new age of innovations with technology and development with the weapons commonly utilized in warfare. Within the past decade, from the beginning of the twenty-first century, many fatalities from shooting rampages have left many citizens very upset and concerned about the safety of even their children at school. Furthermore, in a majority of households, firearms aren't even utilized for protection but actually for sport. Without the utilization of guns in the citizen's hands, the amount of homicides and suicides would decrease dramatically. Citizens of America already have too many guns. If firearms are causing such a problem, prohibiting them or at least restricting them would save the lives of many innocent bystanders and the murderer himself.
For example, the tragedy of the mass murder done at the Sandy Hook Elementary school. The gunman, Adam Lanza, went into the school armed with an assault rifle shooting innocent kids on his way in. With this assault rifle he shot and killed 26 people adults and students together. It was found that Lanza's mother collected guns. Unfortunately, Lanza was able to get his hands on one and preceded to kill many people. This is a common example of homicides in which background checks would not have prevented. However, actions to ban high capacity clips would have limited the amount of lives need to be given up for the ammunition to run out. Therefore, limiting the amount of ammunition would decrease the amount of death in an occurance of a shooting.
Also, just with the ban of guns there would be a massive decrease in suicide. According to statistics, as of 2011 there was been 19, 766 suicides commited by gun shot. Without the use of guns, suicides could be limited and less people would die.
Opponents of gun control say that the gun control laws would violate the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment made sure that the people of America would have weapons for a local militia so that they could protect themselves against the British. However, the found fathers wrote it two hundred years ago. And now in the twenty first century the technology behind these dangerous weapons are much more advanced. In the olden days, "dangerous" muskets fired off 4 to 6 bullets each minute. However, now, more than 60 clips can be fired in a minute. Therefore, the amount of death would be largely increased. Limiting these clips would make a huge difference.
Most people use guns for sport. However, most of the guns used in the fatal shootings were assault weapons. Therefore, assault weapons should be just banned from sale. What is the point of using an assault weapon for sport? However, the chance that this would actually destroy fatal shootings is impossible. The black market is an alternative that many criminals would take. But this ban would limit the access to weapons like these to civilians. Therefore, a major ban on guns would decrease the amount of guns circulating.
Guns have caused so much trouble. With massive suicides and homicides statistics, the numbers of death is too high to ignore. If everyone in the world have a gun, chaos would rule the world. Therefore, without guns, people would feel safe about stepping out their door. The loss of life in the world would decrease and then the peace in the world would become closer as a goal.
