In vino

Rouse and down that glass again;

Remember old times that had been.

Now you live for drunken revel,

Never will your mind be level.

The balm to heal all wounds indeed,

And this you know’s the devil’s creed.

The balm indeed from Gilead,

What could have been, what is instead.

You are a man of sorrow whole,

With grief acquainted in the soul.

What was, now is, and always will,

Until the drink doth have its kill.

And debauched wino does depart,

Corrupted from the very start.
