My thoughts inspired by the poem "Lies of Omission" by Hullabaloo22.

 Say Something Nice

Politeness and correctness

Masks of true feelings

Every day I hear the words

Spoken without feeling

Never a harsh word is spoken

Never a true feeling revealed

Anger, jealousy, fear, truth

Hidden behind the mask

I just want to scream

I know that you are choosing

Each word, always correct, always polite

I know the words not spoken

Are the truth that I want

But will never know

For you must be polite and correct

And only say something nice

There is truth in what you say, but not to underestimate the ghastliness of rejection. I guess the middle way is what we call tact, politeness and diplomacy. It's hard work on both sides.

Thanks for reading and your comments. There is a wide middle ground found in tact and diplomacy.

I'm really flattered that my poem inspired this, ratwood2. It's kind of complicated in reality; sort of a false picture has been put in place for so long...can't explain.
I really enjoyed this, though sometimes asking for honesty can certainly lead to unpleasantness, but then again, at least it's real.
Excellent work.

Thanks for the inspiration and reading. Your reference to the untold lies brought back being taught that if you can't say something nice, then don't say anything. That is also leads to the untold lies by omission.
