You watch me, see me tortured

And yet you still reach out for my hand

You know who I am,

For me, you plead

But lost in fear

lost in pain

Wishing to be held

Not ready to conform

I've seen the brighter days

when you and I were

But I've lost all hope...my strength

like before the day at the beach

When broken, you came to me

We were friends

That day... became dreamers

We were one part of a whole

We saw the world as a place to explore

But then we were nothing but a memory

An empty flicker of joy

And now you reach out for me...

And so much like before

The same story starts to repeat

I hide in shadows or a corner

holding fast to my dim candle

you reach for me, pleading

I run, extinguishing my only light

I can see what's already begun

To refuse to see, to say no

Would be heartbreaking for you

But knowing a simple yes,

To agree with you,

I'd have to let go of me
