The light shimmers off a river at dusk,

in the sky the clouds are shades of rust,

there is a orange and purple covering,

in this scene that I am discovering.

~*~

As I gaze across this tranquil scene,

in the flow are boulders containing citrine.

The stones are unyielding to the river's flow,

with a limb in the estuary across the bow.

~*~

Standing in the distant,

the spruce's do grace,

cutting through the evenings twilight,

in this wonderful place.

~*~

While tranquility is present for now, I do peer ahead,

there are rapids of white water that all do dread.

Peacefully canoeing down this wonderful rivulet,

one must be vigilant in sailing the coming gauntlet.
