WHEN the tide comes in, with its rolling wake
Dip your toes in the shy, foaming cool
And choose carefully what shells you will take
For when you’ll have to leave this dreamy pool

How many times has the blue caressed your skin
And steadied your heart in its secret doubt
And stirred the warmth living within
And sang to you as it whistled about

Terrifying beauty: let your awe increase
Grounded far from the mystifying depths
Hum a soft tune of the gentlest peace
Walk along the curving shore with bold steps

Heart too full for words, let your gaze linger long
In stillness, gather strength for rainy days
Get carried away in the shiny love song
Soul full of feeling as you long to stay

As you bend near to its shimmering face
A wise friend found in its winking bright eyes
Watch your life stretch in its kind, lazy pace
See your own self reflected like the skies.
