The Girl Is Not Me
The girl is not me;
Though I see her in my mind’s eye.
She cannot be me;
Though she sits on my bed and cries.
The girl is not me;
Refuse to believe it’s the truth.
She cannot be me;
This vision is not from my youth.
The girl’s memory
That I don’t wish to remember.
Not sure she is me
And don’t want to find out about her.
I hope she’s not me
This girl who had to quit.
I am not the girl
She has gone, so just forget it!
She is in denial
Doesn’t want to believe that it’s true
So am I the girl?
I will leave that choice up to you.
