This poem is written from the view of a rebellious young lady, in the early 19th century. When everything was about class and family, there were some that stood their ground, and were prepared to be different. The outcasts. Hope you like it.

The nonsensical chatter,

Endless rumours, swapped with haste.

My mind is stretching from it all.

"Did you hear about her?",

"She's getting quite a reputation! Ha!"

I frown and stare into nothingness.

When will it end?

When class or rank is killed by misfortune.

I wait for real conversation.

It's all about corsets',

Family, wealth and more. Disappointing.

Society won't admit to selfishness.
