Golden Gift

The sun

Helios, Re, Inti, Surya

Heated wonder

Earth’s heart

Solar flames light the universe

Like Hercules’s arrows lit the sky

Guiding the universe along her path

Earth life would be darkened and desolate

Like the barren moon or a meteorite’s crater

If the sun’s nurturing kiss ceased

Warmth turns cold

Light turns dark

Darkness would rule like an invading shadow

Consuming, devouring

Nature weeps, as she is tortured

No longer beautiful

No longer mysterious

Within death there is no compassion

Only exposure

The sun unites all power

Blooming, fulfilling, creating

The sun
