My Predictions For This Season

I'm already thinking that this year should be a great year for baseball. With the good trades that were made this off season, and all of the young talent coming up, this should be a season where we can just sit back and enjoy the game regardless of what team is playing.

It may be a little early to make predictions, but what the heck, i've been thinking about this since December and my thoughts have definately changed a lot. Here is how I think the 2008 season will end up.

AL East: Red Sox - Although their spring training record deeply concerns me. Especially compared to how the freaking Rays did (they wont be able to keep that up during the regular season though).

AL Central: Twins- even though they Santana is gone they still have a pretty good make up, I wouldnt count them out just yet.
AL West: Mariners - they really stepped up their game with picking up Bedard. They have both pitching and hitting but will they be able to put it all together to make something come out of it?

AL West: Mariners - they really stepped up their game with picking up Bedard. They have both pitching and hitting but will they be able to put it all together to make something come out of it?

AL Wild Card: Yankees or Tigers - The Yankees made a big mistake of not going out and making any good trades this off season - they are in a rebuilding proccess and although they may have a good mixture of hitting with veterans and young guys they dont have the pitching necissary to win. They will be relying a lot on rookie heroics next year, and I'm not to sure if those heros will come through for them.

The Tigers went out and made some good trades with year, picking up Willis, Cabrera , and Renteria. But they still need help in their rotation. No one in their rotation, besides Verlander, has posted an ERA under 4 in a while. And Willis hasnt had a good season since 2005. Transitioning to pitching in the AL is going to be hard for him so we cant really expect him to go out and be spectacular this year.

So when it comes down to it good pitching beats good hitting, both of these teams have the hitting but other teams have the pitching and that it going to hurt them in the long run. I wouldnt be surprised if the WC came down to a 1 game playoff betweens the Yankees and Tigers.

NL East: Mets- Getting Santana was such a good deal for this team. They have what it takes to win, but they had it last year too (well, without the Yohan) so will they suffer another collapse?

NL Central: Cubs- Fukudome is a beast...well not yet, but I think that he will be. This was a great acquisition for the Cubs. Maybe this will be they year that they break the curse (I sure hope so)

NL West: Dodgers- You need a great manager to manage a good team. With Torre as manager now *cough*Grady Little sucks*cough* they should have the managing, and coaching that came with him, that is needed to make and good team great. This team should be able to do great things this year.

NL Wildcard: Rockies- I'm taking a risk by saying that they will get the WC. I dont think that they have enough Vets. to balance out all of the rookies and young guys that they have. And I think that they was what caused their downfall during the WS last year (well and also having too much rest). How will they boucne back from an almost WS season?

To the Playoffs

WC Game: Tigers over Yankees
ALDS: Red Sox over Tigers in 4
ALDS: Mariners over Twins in 5

NLDS: Cubs over Mets in 5
NLDS: Dodgers over Rockies in 3

ALCS: Red Sox over Mariners in 7
NLCS: Cubs over Dodgers in 6

WS: Cubs over Red Sox in 7

The Cubs are my 2nd favorite team so I would love to see them win a WS sometime soon. Even if it comes against the team that I love the most.
