I wrote this in my last hospital stay. Everyone started saying that I looked like I was okay and that I didnt need to be there. I got mad and this is the poem that resulted from that anger.

My Past

She’Davia Williams

Look at me
What do you see?
Someone who’s happy
Has no problems whatsoever
But no, that’s not who I am

I am the girl with no hope
Lost and confused
No idea what to do

Thinking about the past
Running from my dad
Yelling and yelling
Coming after me
I try to hide
But it doesn’t work
Then what comes after
Breaks me down, it hurts
Not only externally
But internally too

That’s who you don’t see
You don’t see that person
You see only a mask
You won’t see anything
Unless you ask
Just ask about my past
