Stepping up

I was lonely. I had suicidal thoughts. I was sad.  But now you are here. You are the twinkle in my star. When we started dating I promised to step up to you. I never thought I would have to. But here I am thinking about that past moment , writing a story. I was told there was no true love in life. I thought it was the truth. A guy with a gun came into my house one day. I grabbed the knife I had and told my boyfriend to duck. He didn't he was frozen I didn't notice him not follow. He almost died. I had to push him down. Being careful not to get him stabbed by me or shot by the murderer! I have thoughts to this day. I believe that that was stepping up. Today I still have those thoughts but when I think them I think of my story. My story of STEPPING UP!
