[Jenna and Christine are sitting on a bed in Jenna’s room]

Christine: I have something to tell you Jenna…but I don’t how to say it

Jenna: You could tell me anything Christine

[Takes Christine’s hands into her own]  I’m here for you.

Christine: Okay, here goes, I’m sick and…I don’t if I’m ever going to get better

Jenna: What do you mean? Be more specific

Christine: I have a disease

Jenna: Which one?

Christine: The kind you get, from having unprotected sex

[Jenna takes her hand away, and stands up and walks to door and back]

Jenna: How is this possible? And…and why?!

Christine: Do you remember Todd?

Jenna: Yeah, yeah I remember him we hanged out during the summer….No, you and him.

Christine: Yeah Me and him

Jenna: But why?

[Christine gets up and turns her back towards Jenna]

Christine: I don’t know, maybe because I just wanted to get it over with. You know, not being a virgin.

Jenna: I can’t believe you, how could you do this to me?! How could you do this to yourself?!

Christine: You think I never thought about you?! Or how it would all turn out? Of course I did. I just…I was just so upset; I just didn’t want to feel like I was being left out.

Jenna: So you did it to feel included, wow

Christine:  I know, it was wrong-

Jenna: You should know better Christine! About these things

Christine: I know and I’m sorry

[Jenna sits down on bed]

Jenna: Do your parents know?

Christine: Yes, Last week my parents and I went to the clinic. I’m HIV positive

Jenna:  I see

[Christine sits with her]

Christine: But, some people who are HIV positive tend to live a healthy life

Jenna: You’re just saying that

Christine: But it’s true, and it’s not like my life is over

Jenna: But it sure feels that way to me

Christine: Look, this is not going to be an easy ride for me. But I told you because I know I can trust you, you’re my best friend Jenna. And I’m scared

Jenna: I know, but promise me that you would never do something just because of what people say.

Christine: Of course, I mean I promise

Jenna: Good

[Hugs Christine] That’s I’ll I want to hear
