Naught But Silence

with bountiful hope,

you try to soothe Me,

help Me cope.

but blind I do not see.

I mistake My silence,

quite foolishly

as acceptance.

and I act ghoulishly.

you hide the pain,

and try to heal

with will that does not wane.

but shut-off I do not feel.

Now you no longer exist.

Your voice in my head did creep,

making me realise and feel and have eyes mist.

And I see that I was dead and asleep.

In your final days me you kept,

but I missed how you must have wept.
