At first we were friends

Laughing and making fun

But then you wanted me

To be your girlfriend

That’s when things changed

I realize how different we are

And how we could never be

Unless one of us changed

And it wasn’t going to be you

I found myself giving up my boyish traits

And focusing on impressing you

But why?

You wanted me for who I was

And if you have a problem

You can end it

I don’t fit in with your crowd

And I refuse to change for you

I love you

But not enough to give up who I am

You’ll have to get used to me

Because I’m not changing
