My mind loves you but my heart does not

Is it selfish to ask you to continue to walk beside me through the grassy plains?

I know you would follow if I asked

Your heart a garden with its gates wide open

My thoughts boil over like the broth you make when I am sick

I know you are not what I need

You are the land while I was created for the sea

Yet still you build yourself a boat with a smile

Eyes greying as days go by

Weary from searching for my soul

Feet burnt from running over coals to find my love

Surely, it would be best for me to grab hold of the waves

And forever vanish behind the frosted sea

Finally leaving you at peace

But blame my selfish nature

Curse my self-serving mind

How much would you hate me if I stayed another day?

The morning tea you make is just to warm to leave behind
