The title is unusual, but thought it was better than merely 'Sleep'. Hope you enjoy this one from my teens.

SOPORIFIC MEANDERINGS

Slumber comes when daylight leaves

Flesh to rest and mind relieve

Cares resign and stress concede

Mental peace begun

Stillness speaks it's silent word

Ever present, never heard

A stream of thought is drifting ever on.......

As consciousness is fading

It's flame is growing dim

Activeness forgotten now

With rest in every limb

Timelessness

Descends

With creeping dawn returning

An iota to a flood

A distant sound unnoticed

Yet somehow understood

The child AWAKES
