TRIBUTE FREDDIE PLAYS BATLEY

Tribute Freddy is truly a great pretender
Striking a pose Mercurial,
Left hand aloft
He takes the stage in salutary fashion-
Shortly after the bingo
The spotlight falls nervously on tonight’s turn
Addressing the throng invisible, ‘cept old Cecil and his dog (being visible)
Freddy begins:-
"Who will rock thee? – We will!"
"Who are t’ champions? – Us are!!"
"Who’s mi’ best friend?- Thee are!!"
Fanatical silence ensues until…
Heckled by dog-
"Wier did tha’ git thi’ clothes?!",
(The kind of attire a deacon may tailor)
"T’weren’t Zandra!"
Consummate, Freddy sings on,
"DON’T STOP MI’ NAAA!!!"
Then, with a tug of a plug, they do.
Cecil, leaving almost as swiftly as the dog, offers a parting critique
"Tha’ sung like tha’s never sung in thi’ life",
"Ee Cecil mi’ old love. Tha’s cheered mi’ up reet proper!"
