A chuckle. He didn’t believe me. He ever does. I throw some change in his cup and turn away, him still laughing.

The same things happens over and over yet not a single person notices.Yesterday became today, today becomes tomorrow. There is just no end. I’ve been living the same scenarios for the past year, but have kept silent, in that others would claim I lost sanity. I, myself wasn’t sure at first. It took weeks to finally realize I’ve been living in the same day. Goes to tell you what kind of life I choose to live. My daily routine left no time for the little details. There’s got to be something that could break this chain of bad luck. Something I needed to do or take care of so tomorrow could truly be August 3rd, my birthday.

It’s still August 2rd, 2020. It’s my 25th but who would know. I’ve gotten used to not crossing days of the calendar. The same 2 friends outside still gleefully exchanging wild stories about the parties they’ve went to last night. I don’t have to go far to get to the kitchen, or the bathroom, or the living room. They’re all in the same filthy squared room. I can eat while taking a shit and catch up on the morning news. There’s still a little hope that today wasn’t the first launch to the new world. I dug deep into my budget to get this worthless TV in hopes I could maybe find some answers to my little problem but lately I’ve had no luck. The launch to the new world was another governmental solution for overpopulation. It always starts with a countdown, then ends in static only to return with newsman Ace Vander saying “we experiencing some technical difficulties with cameras… tune in tomorrow for more.” My ass.

It’s a new day but this time I mean it. I finally got the promotion I’ve been desperately working for. Mel should be here any minute to say Happy Birthday, God she’s so beautiful. I’m moving out of this dump and moving to London to conduct business for the company. I never thought I’d leave New York behind and go this far but I’m very glad. I’ve only seen brochures and posters of other countries but those and dreams were as close as I could get. Amidst the laughter, the crowd and the campaign I spotted Mel’s close friend Jill, her face was gaunt and expressionless. She caught my eyes, gave me a weak smile and timidly left the office. I never got to see Mel, but I got the promotion.

I left for London and everything is slowly going back to the way it is suppose to be. I’m a year in the past but I everything is still a surprise to me as everyone else. Mel had been on one of those shuttles to the new world. She never even said goodbye … but I never really even said hello.Regardless, London is a wonderful city. I was shown where I would spend a years time. Compared to New York this is paradise.

He looks long and hard. These notes were written 2oo years in the past. He came here for nothing. His touch bloodied the papers he held. Only Debris separated him and them. They don’t want him to know, but he has to find out.

This had indeed been suicide. This apartment was a shithole but compared to where he was from it was like this man said., paradise. Heavy artillery carve the walls into nothing. . He sat by the door gasping for breath, reading, and weeping at the same time. The only man who had knowledge of what happened was long gone. He was 2oo years too late. There was no need for this bloodshed. No one had to die, but what choice did he have. He reached for his face to remove the patch from his left eye. The moment froze as stray bullets laid suspended above his head.
