We're walking down the street,
So bitter cold,
Clutching like sickness,
Looking like tenderness.

They stop and watch,
The two women standing in the street,
The cars honk and beep,
But they don't hear.

Not a word,
Not a scream,
Absolutely,
Nothing.

Passing mothers,
Shake their heads,
Men grin and watch,
Boys pause to pick up,
Stones.

Other girls try not to look-,
But they do anyway,
Before they continue on.

No matter what happens,
She tells me,
We carry on.

We carry on,
She tells me.
