The Jump

Poem by: Rina Hickory

Summary

You look down, it's a swirling pit of darkness and at the very bottom you barely see a pit of water. You take a deep breath and jump.

The Jump

Your friends dared you to do it

You climb higher and each step makes you shake even more

They would have called you a chicken if you didn't

The platfore is within your reach

You put on a brave face, it was only for show

You reach the top and inch your way to the edge

You wanted to cry and run away from them

Your heart seems to stop beating when you look down towards the water below

They all shouted comments as you rose high and higher up the ladder

You take a deep breath

You tried to keep calm

You jump

But failed

The wind howls in your ears

You wanted to die right there

The water races to meet you

You have no choice

You body cries in agony when you hit

but to jump
