Oh how heroes have fallen
With promises
Like shields,
Shattered in voyeuristic heat
With quick jabs
The enemy bleeds
True words
And virgin lies
They stand in rows,
In line
And prepare to battle
With enemies,
Who were said to be liars
But who really only told the truth
Lips cut and bloody
On sharp, grating words
Like angels, they stood
Amongst man and beast
Swords drawn and ready,
To cut sinning skin to ribbons
To defend their holy lie
Young men stand shivering
Cold and flushed
With the fever of battle
They pale
In the face of dark
They live in shafts of broken light
Like poppies and sunflowers
They turn to the sky
Glimmering metal
Sharp flash of steel
Dancing in blood
That drips like sorrowful waterfalls
There are little girls
Who await their fathers arrival
Hugging gaudy dolls,
With hair like death,
Tightly to innocent chests
There are mothers,
Awaiting their sons
And lovers,
Wanting
Lusting
Waiting
