This is a poem I wrote just to be writing. Not much thought went into it, but I rather like how it turned out.

Romeo and Juliet lay dead atop a pillow of dust bunnies
While monsters with earsplitting shrieks roam the halls
Shadows of people,
Once so lively
Whisper about slowly, with hands shoved deep in pockets
In the House of Madness

Super heroes, once so polished and clean
Sit shivering in damp corners
Creatures not affected by light
Melt in the painfully sterile halls
In the House of Madness

Nurses with gentle, horrifying faces
Tear at paper gowns
And lap up spilt tears
With long, spiked tongues
In The House of Madness

I sit alone
Pen and paper in hand
My eyes following dizzying and pointless
Dances
My lips move with words I’m too afraid to say
That will be taken anyway
No matter what I do
In The House of Madness

There are needles and blood
Oh god, the blood
It stains once clean minds
And causes the madness here
I slowly sink to the bottom
Of a washtub filled to the brim with roses and stuffed bears
This is all there is
In The House of Madness
